New Works on Paper, coming Fall 2012
The combination of texture and movement so prevalent in Bentleys Works on Paper, conveys an atmospheric serenity and mysticism inherent in nature and the environment, wherein lies his inspiration for his art....and his life.
The highly regarded former Curator of Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum, Charlotta Kotik stated, ...the serenity of Michael Bentleys watercolor speaks about the artist's eternal fascination with the elements of nature ...
In his Works on Paper, the abstract landscapes become a personal journey, a place of reflection where nature serves as a sanctuary... a place to experience the cycle of birth, life and loss. And most importantly the restorative effects of rebirth...origins, new beginnings.
Influences intrinsic in the conceptual stage, are the artists relationship with nature always being the foundation. Bentley finds his inspiration where he lives and works in Nova Scotia, Santa Fe, and Wisconsin.
